A new lease on life for you and your tenants

If you’re a landlord footing the bill for your tenants’ utilities, a new program could save you thousands of dollars in energy efficiency improvements that will translate into savings on your monthly energy costs.

Mayor Thomas Menino’s Renew Boston initiative will hold two energy-efficiency workshops for Boston-based landlords to learn about free home-energy improvements available through the federal recovery act, as well as utility-sponsored efficiency programs.

Each workshop will feature information on no-cost energy assessment for buildings with four or fewer apartments, free air-sealing to reduce drafts, how to secure up to $3,500 for improvements for each apartment and how to get zero-interest financing on qualified energy improvements.

Energy efficiency specialists and contractors will be available to field questions on how to improve the energy performance of your properties.

Renew Boston representatives will also be on hand to explain new opportunities for federal funding through the city.
