The cousin of former NFL star and murder suspect Aaron Hernandez has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to criminal contempt.
Tanya Singleton, who is battling breast cancer, will also serve one year of probation under home confinement. Singleton refused to testify before a grand jury in connection to the murder of Odin Lloyd, Hernandez's alleged victim.
Hernandez, 24, is accused of shooting Lloyd to death in June 2013 in an industrial park in North Attleborough.
Prosecutors have said Hernandez paid Singleton not to speak of Lloyd’s murder, according to a Boston Globe report.
Hernandez also faces murder charges in the July 2012 shooting deaths of Daniel Abreu, 28, and Safiro Furtado, 29. He has pleaded not guilty to all three murders.
