The manslaughter trial of former Yankee Jim Leyritz began in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday. Prosecutors say Leyritz was driving drunk when he ran a red light and crashed into Fredia Ann Veitch’s car, killing the mother of two. He faces a sentence of four to 15 years if convicted. Leyritz, whose playing days ended in 2000, is best known for a dramatic game-tying home run in Game 4 of the 1996 World Series.
