The third time’s a charm for a bank robber in Queens.

Police are looking for a man who tried unsuccessfully to rob two banks before making off with several thousand dollars from a third bank Saturday morning.

The first attempted robbery occurred about 9:15 a.m. at a Chase Bank in South Richmond Hill, police said. The suspect passed a bank teller a note demanding money. When the teller refused, the suspect fled to a Citi Bank less than three blocks away and tried the same tactic less than 10 minutes later. Again, he left empty handed.

The suspect reappeared an hour later, three miles away, at Astoria Federal Savings Bank on Hillside Avenue. This time, after the suspect passed a note demanding money, the teller handed him $3,300.

Police describe the suspect as a 200-pound black man in his 20s or 30s.He was last seen wearing sunglasses, jeans, a black lumberjack style hat and a tan top, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
