Mayor Michael Nutter this afternoon is slated to announce new funding and park projects for the Delaware River waterfront.
Significant new fundings for the next phase of open space development along the river is expected to be announced. The next phase include new parks, trail extensions and new connector streets, increasing public access to the waterfront, officials said.
Nutter will make the announcement at Race Street Pier which was constructed thanks to a $5 million grant from the William Penn Foundation that helped the city secure a total of $14 million from other sources for the site.
The announcement ceremony begins at 1 p.m. today.
