Anthony Marx: Library head arrested for DWI

The president of the New York Public Library was arrested for driving drunk while reportedly trying to maneuver around the marathon Sunday, hitting a parked car instead.

Cops said Anthony Marx, 52, ran into a parked car Sunday afternoon on East 138th Street in East Harlem. His blood alcohol content was reportedly 0.19, twice the legal limit.

The car is registered to the New York Public Library, according to the New York Post.

Sources told the newspaper he was trying to wind around the marathon route, which shut down streets across the city Sunday. He was charged with DWI and released without bail.

Marx apologized for any embarrassment to his family or the library yesterday and said he hoped the incident did not distract from the library’s work and goals.
