An argument about soccer turned violent in Framingham over the weekend.
Alvaro A. Navarro, 39, was arrested by Framingham Police after he slashed a clump of hair off a friend's head with a knife and then threatened to kill him on Sunday after a drunken argument about soccer, the MetroWest Daily News reported.
The group of men was drinking beer and watching soccer when Navarro and a friend got into an argument. Navarro then went into another room and returned with a large knife, the article continued.
"He threatened to kill the victim," said prosecutor Emily Jackson. "He grabbed the victim's head and cut off some hair and put the knife to his stomach and threatened to kill him."
When police arrived at the scene, they found Navarro lying in bed with the knife in a bucket next to him. He was charged with assault and battery with a knife.
Navarro previously spent 2.5 years in jail for assault and battery. His lawyer says the group was just "horsing around" when the knife was pulled out.
