A 21-year-old Doylestown man has been charged in the savage stabbing attack of a 71-year-old U.S. Army veteran outside the Doylestown train station earlier this week.
Police found the victim, identified by the Bucks County Courier-Times as George Mohr, unconscious and bleeding at a bus kiosk near the train station about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. He had been beaten on his head several times and stabbed more than 70 times.
Police have charged Dale "Bugsy" Wakefield with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possessing an instrument of crime. He was arrested Thursday in Baltimore after his sister, whom he reportedly had called and told that he believed he may have killed a man, reported him to authorities, the paper reports.
Wakefield told his sister he was fleeing to North Dakota.
He remained in Baltimore awaiting extradition to Bucks County.
Mohr remains in critical condition at Temple University Hospital, in Philadelphia.
