One of the associates of convicted abortionist Kermit Gosnell, currently serving three back-to-back life sentences for killing viable fetuses, was sentenced today for his role in the death of two babies.

Steven Massof, 51, was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison, the office of District Attorney Seth Williams announced.

Massof pleaded guilty in 2011 to third degree murder and conspiracy charges for killing two babies born alive during abortion procedures.

Massof was a medical school graduate without a license or any certification, prosecutors say, yet he worked as a doctor for Dr. Kermit Gosnell at the Women’s Medical Society in West Philadelphia.

Gosnell, 73, was convicted in May 2013 of three murder charges. In late 2013 his federal trial, for selling prescriptions to powerful painkillers like Vicodin and Oxycodone, concluded with a 30-year sentence on those charges.

The federal drug investigation led to the discovery of the unsanitary and illegal abortions going on at Gosnell’s clinic during a raid on Feb. 18, 2010.

Massof’s codefendant, Sherry West, is scheduled to be sentenced March 13.
