Amber Hellesten, 15, charged with attempted murder in stabbing of boy, 14

The 15-year-old girl who allegedly stabbed a 14-year-old boy in the heart in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia on Tuesday night has been charged with attempted murder, officials with the district attorney announced Thursday.

Amber Hellesten allegedly pierced the boy in the heart with a knife during an argument on the2100 block of Watkins Streetabout 8 p.m. on Tuesday, reports say.

The boy walked from the crime scene but collapsed along the 2100 block of South 22nd Street. The boy underwent emergency surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and as of Wednesday afternoon, was remained in critical condition.

Hellesten is awaiting arraignment in police custody.
