Duncan Quinn just wants a Ferrari. And a Bentley. And a Mercedes. Quinn, a mid-30s Upper East Side designer, gets access to all these in the Classic Car Club, a group for 350 auto lovers that will open a new headquarters in March on the Upper East Side.
An $8,000 annual fee hands people like Quinn the keys to a fleet of 45 luxury cars and 40 days of driving. Some pay up to $100,000 per year for enhanced driving packages and “accessories” like round-the-clock club use for private parties.
The uptown location will join the club’s SoHo spot, which opened in 2005 and boasts its own bar and sound system.
West Village entrepreneur Brenna Haysom, 34, joined in 2008, wanting to escape upstate in a nice ride. “Having access to 45 great cars was more appealing than having just one car,” she said.
Favorites? The 1968 Porsche 911. “You have to drive that car,” said Quinn. “It doesn’t drive itself.” The Ford GT, on the other hand, “I like because you could kill yourself in that thing in about 10 seconds flat if you don’t know what you’re doing.”
