Bank robber arrested after being chased by cops

An accused bank robber who allegedly held up at least four banks on Thursday was captured by police after he crashed his getaway car near the Lincoln Tunnel in Manhattan and tried to run from cops.

The suspect crashed his car on West 31st Street as he headed for the tunnel, The Daily News reports.

He then attempted to flee on foot but was unsuccessful. NYPD officers and a Port Authority officer surrounded and caught the robber at the entrance to the tunnel.

The robber targeted several banks on Thursday including an Investor’s Bank near Fifth Avenue and East 29th Street at about 3:50 p.m., police said.

Charges for the suspect were pending on Thursday night. Cops are now searching for Frank Mione, 47, (pictured below) for questioning regarding the robberies.
