Bloomberg for president? “No way, no how,” is his latest answer.
“I’m not going to run for president,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg when asked yesterday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if he would consider a campaign run in 2012. “I’ve got a great job. I want to go out being — having a reputation as — a very good, maybe the greatest, mayor ever.”
That should settle it, but Bloomberg’s name has often been mentioned as a possible presidential contender, especially after Rupert Murdoch revealed last month thatBloomberg thinks President Barack Obama is “arrogant” (something Bloomberg denies he said).
But yesterday Bloomberg, an independent, praised Obama, saying “we don’t give him enough credit” and that voters “should be encouraged” by the compromise Obama made with Republicans over extending tax cuts and unemployment benefits.
