Bloomberg reportedly calls Obama ‘arrogant’

Mayor Mike Bloomberg can sum up President Barack Obama in one word: arrogant.

“I never met in my life such an arrogant man,” the mayor reportedly told Rupert Murdoch, after Bloomberg and the president took in a round of golf in Martha’s Vineyard this summer. Murdoch leaked the mayor’s thoughts in an interview with an Australian magazine.

“I don’t remember the conversation that way,” Bloomberg downplayed the controversy yesterday.

But the mayor’s loose lips were flapping this past week as he flung insults left and right during a Hong Kong trip.

Voters elected politicians who “can’t read,” he told the Wall Street Journal. “I’ll bet you a bunch of these people don’t have passports,” he said of new Congress members.

Does Bloomie’s tongue-wagging mean he is comfortable speaking candidly on a national stage?

Since flirting with a White House run in 2008, rumors of Bloomberg running for the presidency persist. But Bloomberg said Monday he’s not interested in the Oval Office.

For now, Mayor Mike’s focused on New York, said John Mollenkopf at City University of New York, but harnessing the city is great résumé fodder, too.

“2012 is a long way off — who knows what will happen?” he said.
