Before the last band finished its set and ended the first Boston Calling music festival, the show organizers announced it will put on a second music fest.

Boston Calling will again take place in about three months and feature Vampire Weekend and local group Passion Pit.

Like last weekend’s two-day show that attracted thousands of people, the September show will also take place over two days on City Hall Plaza. It will feature 18 bands.

Boston Calling is put on by Crash Line Productions and the Bowery Presents.

“There was no better time for us to announce Boston Calling’s September return than when we could share it with the fans of our very first festival,” Crash Line Co-Founder Brian Appel said in a statement. “We’re so appreciative of and motivated by all of the support we have received from fans, artists and the city. It’s an honor to bring Boston Calling back to our city.”

The end-of-summer show takes place September 7 and 8.
