Boston food trucks will face off against New York City in Dewey Square next month in the first ever “Food Truck Throwdown.”
The free day-long competition will end with one mobile eatery being named Best Food Truck” by a panel of celebrity judges, including Jenny Johnson from NECN’s TV Diner.
Seven trucks from each city will compete – with contenders determined by means of online polling.
Boston’s trucks will include Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Bon Me, The Cookie Monstah, Staff Meal, Mei Mei Street Kitchen, Lobsta Love and Kickass Cupcakes.
The Hub will be up against Nuchas, a truck that specializes in fresh baked artisanal empanadas. Bian Dang, noted for “the best damn Taiwanese food in the USA,” Big D’s Grub with tacos and delicious grinders showcasing the best of Asian and Latin flavors. Other New York trucks will include Fishing Shrimp, Mike ‘n’ Willie’s,The Munchie Mobile and Wafels & Dinges.
The event, which was spearheaded by Kickass Cupcakes, will run from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 13.
