JP Norden, one of the victims of April's Boston Marathon bombings, will undergo a 12-hour surgery on Tuesday to repair an area on the leg he lost in the attacks.
Norden lost a leg in the blast. This surgery is to strengthen the area where the leg was removed so Norden will be more comfortable in the future.
Fellow bombing victim Jeff Bauman posted about Norden's surgery on Facebook, which led to the family releasing a statement on their page, "Norden Brothers: Boston Marathon Victims," thanking the public for all the good wishes on behalf of JP and Paul.
"Thank you Jeff for taking the time to ask all your supporters to send well wishes and healthy thoughts to JP tomorrow and over the next couple days," the statement reads. "His surgery is a 12-hour-long scheduled process that should keep us on the tip of our seats all day. However, having the great people of Boston and around the nation pulling for JP is very comforting and helpful... Standing Boston Strong...together with all our friends."
JP's brother Paul also lost a leg in the bombings.
