Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick warned people in Boston, Watertown, Cambridge and other nearby communities to stay inside with their doors and windows locked as police searched for one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. The other is dead after a police shootout.
The man the FBI labeled "Suspect 1," reported as Tamerlan Tsarneav, 26, was killed by law enforcement officers.
The Associated Press has identified "Suspect 2" as 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev. The two suspects were reportedly brothers from Chechnya. The FBI released new photos of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev early Friday morning.
State police say a door-to-door search in Watertown could take hours.
All MBTA service was shut down until further notice. Colleges and public schools are also closed.
