Boston police arrested a pair of men who allegedly jumped other men in the Financial District early Sunday morning shortly after closing time.

Police arrested Brian Dunphy of Boston and Matthew Kehoe of East Milton, both 21, and charged them with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (shod foot).

Police said that officers noticed two men being chased by another pair of men on Oliver Street at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday. Officers stopped the group and Dunphy and Kehoe allegedly told the officers they were being chased by the men who wanted to beat them up for no reason.

The men who were chasing Dunphy and Kehoe told police they were jumped near Franklin and Milk streets where Dunphy and Kehoe allegedly punched them to the ground and kicked them in the face.

The officers noticed that the victims, who were chasing Dunphy and Kehoe, had blood around their face, nose and mouth. They were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
