A Boston police officer was suspend and his gun was confiscated after he was charged with rape and indecent assault and battery.
Henderson Parker, 45, of Roslindale, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in West Roxbury District Court yesterday. A judge ordered him held on $1,000 bail.
Officers responded to a call for a domestic dispute at a Roslindale address just before 11 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
“On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she was sexually assaulted by the suspect,” police said.
Parker later turned himself in after learning that he would face charges, police said.
He was suspended with pay and his gun was confiscated pending the outcome of the investigation. The police department’s internal affairs unit is also investigating.
Parker, an 18-year veteran of the department, earned about $110,000 in 2011, according to city payroll records.
Parker’s lawyer, Thomas Dreschler, told the Globe that Parker denies the charges.
In 2002, Parker was also suspended for 30 days following a physical altercation that resulted in injuries, the Globe reported. Parker was off duty at the time.
