Police are investigating whether a pair who were arraigned yesterday for a brutal Franklin Park knifepoint robbery are connected to a recent spate of similar crimes near Jamaica Pond, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

A 13-year-old Dorchester resident is being held on $10,000 cash bail after facing charges with assault with intent to murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

The teen, whose identity has not been released as he is a minor, is a codefendant with Rafael Motas-Pena, a 21-year-old from Dorchester, who faces similar charges.

Police say this past weekend the pair were part of a trio that attacked and threatened a man at knife point, pushed him into a bush, tied him up, stole his possessions and threw him in a pond, according to the DA’s office.

While police apprehended two of the three suspects, the third individual is still at large.
