BREAKING: Helicopter crash in the East River

A helicopter crashed in the East River at about 3 p.m., according to the FDNY, and one woman may be dead.

The helicopter, which was carrying as many as five people, was trying to land at the East Side 34th Street heliport when it crashed and sunk into the East River.

Four survivors were pulled out of the choppy East River before 4:45 p.m., but one passenger remained missing.

The last passenger is reportedly a woman, and she was pulled from the water just before 5 p.m. She was dead, according to the FDNY.

The passengers may have been British tourists.

Two of the survivors were put on stretchers and taken to Bellevue, where they are in serious condition.
