Bronx Assemblyman Jose Rivera hits on young women in video

Bronx Assemblyman Jose Rivera is under fire after a video emerged of him hitting on young women during a 2005 trip to the Dominican Republic.

The video was posted on the assemblyman’s YouTube page and it drew the attention of NY1 commentator Gerson Borrero, Politicker reported.

“I think this video of Jose Rivera in the DR can get some folks in trouble,” Borrero tweeted on Sunday.

The video was then taken down, but blogger Andres Duque reposted a version of the video with English subtitles.

“Do you happen to have a younger sister?” Rivera asks as he walks down a street. When the woman says she does not, Rivera replies, “Ah, well that’s my bad luck!”

Rivera also talks to a street vendor about the alcoholic beverage “mamajuana.”
Vendor: “It’s a beverage made from different roots.”
Rivera: “From different roots which leave me feeling…”
Vendor: “Hard!”
Rivera: “Strong enough to get laid with all those young ones.”
Vendor: “A child! A little girl!”

Later on, Rivera is joined by former Assemblyman Adam Clayton Powell IV. The two hit on another young woman.

“Where do you live, what is your street address? What are your body measures?” Rivera asks the woman and then the camera captures a close-up of her behind.

Rivera told The New York Daily News that he didn’t mean to offend anyone and apologized.

In response to the video, Powell said,“It was an educational video, showing young men how it’s done.”

He added, “When we were young and sexy, everything was appropriate. Now we’re old and fat.”
