Brooklyn deli clerk fights off robber

Brooklyn-deli-clerk-fights-off-robberA man who tried to rob a Brooklyn deli this week fled empty-handed after a clerk fought him off, police said.

The suspect walked into Glenwood Deli, at 2816 Glenwood Road, in Flatbush at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday and requested a sandwich, police said. When the clerk told the man that the deli portion of the store was closed, the suspect went behind the counter, took out a gun and demanded money.

The clerk initially complied, but when the robber put down his gun to put the money in his pocket, he began to fight the suspect. The suspect then fled without the money.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect, who is described as a black male who is approximately 5-foot-6 with short black hair.
