Brooklyn girl feared paralyzed in shooting moves her arms

An 11-year-old girl who wasfeared paralyzedafter being shot in the neck last week was reportedly able to move her arms at Columbia University Hospital on Monday.

Despite reports saying that the stray bullet had severed Tayloni Mazyck’s spine and that she would never walk again, the girl’s mother, Priscilla Mazyck, 46,told the Daily Newsthat there were signs of hope as she moved her arms.

Kane Cooper, 17, was arrested for shooting Mazyck when she stepped outside of her Bedford-Stuyvesant home and into the line of fire as he aimed at two men further down the street. The Friday shooting was one of several incidents of gun violence that night that kicked off a bloody weekend that ended with 26 people shot across the city, seven of them fatally.

Also on Monday, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly announced that he wasboosting the number of police officerson the streets in response to the violence.
