The burning of a menorah outside a Brooklyn synagogue just hours before the start of the Jewish New Year is being looked into as a possible hate crime.
The religious symbol that stood on the porch of Chabad Lubavitch of Kensington on Ocean Parkway was burned just after midnight Wednesday morning.
The fire department had not determined whether the fire was caused by arson Thursday morning.
The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is standing by to investigate should fire marshals determine the blaze was intentional.
No injuries were reported and firefighters put out the blaze in an hour. No arrests have been made.
