A 94-year-old Brooklyn woman who was allegedly beaten by her son last week has died, police said.

Dorothy Farrell was pronounced dead on Monday, one week after her 69-year-old son allegedly beat her with a cane inside their Burnett Street home in Marine Park, police said.

Police responded to the call about a family assault just before 6:30 a.m. on March 3. They found Farrell lying on the floor and bleeding from her hands, face and head, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office. A bloody cane and pillow were found next to her.
Emergency responders transported her to Kings County Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Mark Farrell was arrested at the scene on charges of attempted murder, felony assault, attempted felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Mark allegedly admitted to striking his mother with a cane and covering her face with a pillow to silence her screams, according to the indictment.

Farrell suffered several serious injuries from the brutal assault, including fractures and lacerations to her face and skull, along with two broken ribs and fingers.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
