When it comes to the Bruins playoff series, there’s an air of confidence (and meatloaf) at Cambridge’s All-Star Sandwich Bar.
The owner of the popular eatery, Kosta Diamantopoulos, is a self-described “die-hard” Bruins fan and has entered into a friendly, sandwich-based wager with acquaintance and cheesesteak specialist Tony Luke of Tony Luke’s in Philadelphia.
“The day the B’s knocked out the [Montreal] Canadiens, I called him up and asked him if he wanted to have some fun,” Diamantopoulos said.
If the Bruins manage to avoid a repeat of last year’s epic collapse to the Philadelphia Flyers, Luke will have to eat All-Star’s Atomic Meatloaf Meltdown sandwich with a Harpoon IPA while wearing a Bruins jersey.
If the Flyers manage to crawl their way back again, Diamantopoulos will don a Flyers jersey and eat a cheesesteak.
Despite last year’s upset, Diamantopoulos is confident. “Tony Luke will be here next week,” he said.
