A cab driver was stabbed six times after picking up two men in Philadelphia's Queen Village neighborhood early this morning.
The 36-year-old victim, who drives for Freedom Taxi, is in critical condition at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, NBC10 reports. One suspect is in custody, while a second was able to flee the area.
The suspects got in the victim's cab at Front Street and Washington Avenue sometime after midnight. The taxi driver fought back when the suspects produced a knife and demanded money from him.
Police say the two suspects got $20 from the victim before fleeing the cab.
The victim drove about eight blocks to Front and South streets, where he was able to contact police about 1 a.m.
