To determine the rankings, Movoto started with 139 suburbs of the 50 largest cities in the U.S. Each suburb was ranked based on six criteria: nightlife per capita (bars, clubs, comedy, etc.); live music venues per capita; active life options per capita (parks and outdoor activities); fast food restaurants restaurants per capita (the fewer the better); and the percentage of restaurants that are fast food (the lower the better).
Cambridge easily earned the No. 1 spot because of its high population of 18- to 34-year-olds. The city also scored particularly high rankings in the active life options, live music and nightlife categories. Quincy has an older population, but still managed to receive a high ranking thanks to a variety of active options.
