Christie wants casinos

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took to the Atlantic City Boardwalk yesterday to discuss the potential state takeover of the casino district. That was the high-profile recommendation of an advisory commission he appointed to study gaming, sports and enter-tain-ment statewide.

With gaming options from other states encroaching, the “blue-print” sta-tes the billion-dollar casino industry is at “a critical crossroads which threatens its role in the state economy.”

“Atlantic City has not changed enough to keep up,” Christie said. “We have to take bold steps now not because we want to, but because we have to.”
