Two men were arrested on Tuesday after they stole a Citi Bike from its dock and complained about unfair bike share prices to a pair of plainclothes officers , police said.
The two officers happened to be at the downtown docking station to investigate reports of people using stolen credit cards to get bikes when they saw Bakary Camara, 34, and Jeffery Boateng, 22, in possession of the stolen bike. When the suspects could not produce a receipt for its rental, they were arrested and charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Boateng was also charged with marijuana possession.
Police said they believed the suspects had simply removed the bikes by pulling really hard.
