The New York City Council has set a Sept. 8 oversight hearing to learn more about the NYPD’s review of police officer training in the wake of Eric Garner’s death.
Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito said Wednesday the NYPD is planning to re-train all 35,000 police officers.
“This hearing will be a critical way to openly discuss their methodology and procedures,” Mark-Viverito said. “The City Council takes its oversight role very seriously and we expect to have a thorough and substantive hearing that will be informative to New Yorkers.”
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sept. 8 at City Hall.
