Yesterday the DOT added an extra $2 million to its $190 million budget for 70 crews to work extra hours to fill street holes and fix cracked blacktop.

New Yorkers can report potholes on www.thedailypothole.tumblr.com, a site where the DOT reports the daily pothole total — yesterday afternoon, the department boasted 3,859 filled — and showcases employees at work, with one man pictured dumping black gunk in a Cypress Hills hole.
