Commuters can expect traffic delays during massive march

As protesters plan to march through Boston tonight as part of a national day of action, police are warning commuters that they could face traffic delays.

According to Boston Police, the areas of Atlantic Avenue, Commercial Street, Causeway Street and near the North Washington Street Bridge could be cluttered with several group’s of protesters.

The Boston Police said they would be on scene to direct traffic and implement detours where necessary.

Commuters should expect congestion and traffic delays through the evening commute, police said.

A Bruins game scheduled this evening may add to the jam.

Occupy Boston members will be marching from their headquarters in Dewey Square in solidarity with ongoing protests today in several other cities nationwide.

Additional groups supporting the massive movement are expected to flank occupiers.

According to the Occupy Boston website, “the candlelight march will proceed from Dewey Square to the North Washington St. Bridge—a bridge that is desperately in need of repair.”

The group will speak out against unemployment and infrastructure cuts.
