A little boy's neighbor was arrested Sunday in the Brooklyn shooting that left the 3-year-old in critical condition.
Akeem Bernard, 22, was arrested after a bullet hit the child in the head Saturday around 3:30 a.m. in a Flatbush apartment.
The boy was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was in critical condition Saturday. He was eventually transferred to Cornell Medical Center where he was in stable condition Sunday.
Police believe Bernard was invited into the second-floor apartment by the boy's babysitter, who was present for the shooting. The child lives with his mother, who was not present for the shooting.
Bernard lives in the same apartment building two floors up.
Police are still investigating why he was invited into the apartment and why he allegedly fired a gun
Bernard was charged with felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and tampering with evidence.
