A Boston man was arrested after he allegedly shot out his car’s rear window during a drug deal that went bad, police said.

Ed Clarke, 20, was charged with armed robbery and assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

Boston police said officers were called to the area of Ridgewood and Draper streets in Dorchester at about 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived they met up with the victim who confessed to them that he met up with Clarke to buy marijuana. The two were sitting in Clarke’s car when Clarke became angry and pulled out a gun, the victim told police.

That’s when the gun went off, possibly inadvertently, and shattered the rear window. Clarke then allegedly stole the man’s iPhone, kicked him out of the car and drove away.

Police were able to locate the car along Blue Hill Avenue and when they approached it they noticed Clarke cleaning up shattered glass from the rear window. The officers also saw a black-colored pellet gun and the victim’s iPhone sitting on the front seat, police said.

Officers then arrested Clarke.
