The body found in the Hudson River yesterday was that of New Jersey student Paige Aiello, missing since April.
On a Facebook page devoted to finding her, a post reads, "It is with a heavy heart that we report to you that the body recovered yesterday is that of Paige. We want to thank each and every one of you for never giving up hope and continuing to help try and find Paige. At this time, we ask for your continued prayers and support for Paige's family, friends and community during this most difficult time."
Family and friends had been searching for Aiello, 22, since April 9, when she disappeared.
Police said Wednesday that they removed a body from the river at 158th Street.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, according to the NYPD.
Aiello's purse and cell phone were found on the George Washington Bridge last month.
Friends at the College of New Jersey and family had been desperately trying to locate her.
