Cops: Man arrested for trying to set fire to Camden bike shop

Camden police arrested Edgar Carrasquillo, 31, for allegedly trying to set fire to a bike shop with "a crude Molotov cocktail."

Camden County police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly trying to set fire to an East Camden bike shop using what officials are calling "a crude Molotov cocktail."

Investigators said officer Fernando Badillo responded to a call shortly after 2:30 p.m.about a man trying to burn down a business at the corner of River and Reeves avenues.

Firefighters at the scene allegedly found a glass bottle filled with gasoline and a rag had been set next to a garage door.

They also noted there was a burned dark spot on the wall of the building.

As police and Camden Fire Department officials investigated, 31-year-old Edgar Carrasquillo was seen driving by the scene.

Badillo stopped Carrasquillo and arrested him for allegedly trying to set the building on fire.

Carrasquillo, of Camden, was charged with arson and remanded to county jail on $35,000 bail.
