A Milton man pleaded not guilty on Monday to stabbing a man and a woman during a melee outside a pair of Boston clubs over the weekend.

Njisane Chambers, 26, pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office. A judge ordered Chambers held on $25,000 bail, to wear a GPS monitoring device and to abide by a curfew.

A prosecutor said that Boston police officers working crowd control outside the Rumor and Venu nightclubs in the Theater District at 2 a.m. Saturday saw a woman lying on the street clutching her side and two men, including Chambers, fighting.

As officers tried to break up the fight, one of the men began yelling that Chambers stabbed his girlfriend. The men and an officer fell to the ground during the struggle and police were eventually able to arrest Chambers and locate a black folding knife nearby, authorities said.

Another man approached the officers after Chambers was arrested and told them Chambers also stabbed him, authorities said.

Both the man and woman were stabbed to the back and taken to local hospitals for injuries that were not life-threatening. Chambers was treated for a cut on his leg.
