Police currently have a suspect in custody as they work to confirm the results of an autopsy performed on a body found buried in a Queens backyard, a law enforcement source told Metro.
Cops believe the body is that of 60-year-old Frank Soucie, reported missing on Sunday by his girlfriend.
The suspect in custody is Soucie's girlfriend's son, who a neighbor of Soucie's reported seeing yesterday throwing out a large bag and a burnt jacket belonging to Soucie around 11:45 a.m. Detectives found a burnt sleeping bag in the garbage can, the source reported.
Cops followed bloody drag marks from the roof of a neighboring house to the roof of Soucie's home and found ammonia, rubber gloves, a 3-feet-by-18-inches plastic container, a laundry cord, and an unidentified liquid.
There was also a freshly dug mound of dirt in the backyard that they had not seen when they visited the home they day before when investigating the girlfriend's missing person report.
Anthropologists from the Medical Examiner's office carefully removed the dirt to find shallow grave housing a body wrapped in sheets.
The 27-year-old suspect has two prior arrests, one for forcible touching.
