Philadelphia women are the country's most expensive – at least when it comes to auctioning off dates, according to dating website WhatsYourPrice.com.
They may also be among the most willing demographic let men bid money to "win" a date with them.
WhatsYourPrice.com, which lets singles bid on and sell dates, saw in the first week of May a record 6,170 new female sign-ups.
Of those sign-ups, the largest percentage were women from Philadelphia, with 81 new single ladies from the city of Brotherly Love joining the site in that time.
Philly was trailed by San Diego, which had 78 new sign-ups, Portland with 77, Minneapolis with 74 and St. Louis, which had 70 new sign-ups.
"WhatsYourPrice.com’s recent female growth in Philly proves that women are willing to invest into a first date if the opportunity gives a worthwhile incentive," CEO and founder Brandon Wade said in a statement.
He noted the average cost of an accepted first-date offer in Philadelphia is $139, much higher than the sitewide average of $80.
"With an average first-date offer of $130, women clearly value every worthy chance at falling in love," Wade said.
