More dead dolphins were found on Jersey Shore beaches on Sunday, bringing the state's total for the year to 58.

On Sunday, dead dolphins were found in Long Beach Island, Seaside Heights and other locations, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine says the dolphins appear to be dying from a viral pneumonia, but the cause is unknown.

A significant number of dolphins have died between New York and Virginia this year.
