Two Maryland men robbed an elderly man and a middle-aged woman at the Wilmington, Del. casino on New Year's Eve, Delaware State Police said.
The two Elkton, Md. men - Tyree S. Jordan, 27, and Anthony L. Ross, 23 - were charged with robbing a 75-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman inside a parking lot at Delaware Park Casino, state police said.
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday the two patrons were walking through the parking lot when they were approached by a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled down over his face. He aggressively snatched the woman's purse off her shoulder and ran into a waiting Chrysler Sebring with the accomplice in the driver's seat, state police said.
As the attacker entered the car, the 75-year-old man tried to retrieve the purse. As he reached for the item, the attacker slammed the elderly man's hand in the car door. The two then fled the scene.
The 75-year-old man was able to get the license plate number off of the car, and with that information Police found the house registered to the car, at the 300 block of West Chestnut Hill Road in Newark, and arrested the two men. A sawed-off shotgun was later found in the Sebring's trunk.
The woman was not injured, and the man only suffered minor injuries.
Jordan was charged with possession of a firearm previously convicted of a violent felony. He was sent to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of posting $68,000 bail.
Both were charged with first and second degree degree robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, possessing a destructive weapon, and second degree of conspiracy.
Ross was also taken to Young Correctional, but in lieu of posting a $67,000 bail.
