Demolition of Cambridge nightclub set for end of summer

The disco-famous Faces nightclub, which reigned as the place to be during the 1970’s in Cambridge, will have one last blast before developers take the structure to the ground.

Boston.com reports developers of a new 227-unit apartment complex planned for the Route 2 location near Arlington, housed in Cambridge, will celebrate the discotheque’s destruction before it comes tumbling to the ground.

Faces was a staple of the suburban neighborhoods in the 1970’s, where patrons reportedly gathered by the thousands to enjoy disco music on the three massive dance floors inside the club.

The former five-bar dance palace has been sitting and deteriorating since it was shutdown in the early 90’s.

The building, next to a bowling alley, has been sprayed with graffiti and boarded up by officials, unused for decades.

Cambridge officials recently approved a long-awaited makeover for the dilapidated

Building, according to reports.

Demolition is scheduled to begin at the end of August or early September, according to reports.
