A woman who police said was drunk allegedly punched a man aboard an MBTA Silver Line bus Friday night.

Police said Carmen Torres, 47, of Dorchester tried to speak to the male passenger around 11:30 p.m., however when he attempted to move away from her, she punched him. When a transit officer tried to interview Torres, she allegedly “pulled her fist back and attempted to strike the officer in the face.”

But she apparently missed her target. Transit police wrote in their blog, “The quick thinking officer moved and avoided being struck however her punch found it’s way to the male victim’s jaw.”

Torres was transported to transit police headquarters to be booked. During this time it was discovered there were two warrants in existence for her arrest, transit police said.

The warrants were issued for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Disorderly Conduct and Assault and Battery on an Ambulance Personnel, transit police said.

She was due to be arraigned for assault charges.
