A man has been charged with driving under the influence after he crashed into a parked car and a police sport-utility vehicle in North Philadelphia early Thursday.
A Philadelphia police officer sustained minor injuries in the accident at 11th and Cumberland streets, 6ABC Action News reported. The DUI-related accident happened about 2 a.m.
The police officer was sitting in a parked police SUV when the allegedly drunken driver, heading the wrong way on Cumberland in a red minivan, struck a parked car. The minivan bounced off the parked car before striking the occupied police SUV.
The injured police officer, who was at 11th and Cumberland on an unrelated investigation, was being treated for back pain.
An unoccupied police car and several other parked vehicle also were damaged in the multivehicle crash.
Investigators reportedly found unspecified narcotics inside the minivan.
