A tragic car accident at a home in Newton has left one man dead.
The man was loading items into a minivan on Donna Road about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday when his elderly mother backed up the van to save him a few steps, according to the Newton Fire Department. When she moved the car back, she ran over his leg and crashed into her garage, fire officials told the Boston Globe.
The man, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital, said Middlesex district attorney spokeswoman MaryBeth Long.
No charges have been filed, but the Middlesex DA is investigating the situation.
The names of the man and his mother have not been released.
