An elderly pedestrian was killed Wednesday when one of two cars involved in a crash in the city's Fairmount section left the roadway and struck him.
The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. at 18th and Spring Garden Streets, Fox 29 reports. The victim, 79, was later pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital a short time later.
His companion, a 77-year-old woman, and the two vehicle drivers was also hospitalized. All were in stable condition.
The car that struck and killed the man also hit a church, causing minor damage, according to Fox 29.
