An 84-year-old woman died just after midnight Wednesday morning in a fire inside an East Village apartment, cops said.
Police responded to the call about a fire at 115th Fourth Ave. inside apartment 5F. Upon extinguishing the fire, responders found the elderly victim unresponsive with burns to her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
